Pdf Summary
A study conducted in China aimed to assess the association between the use of solid fuels for cooking or heating and the risk of hypertension in individuals over 45 years old. The study utilized baseline questionnaires to collect data on fuel usage and the time of first hypertension diagnosis. Cox proportional hazards models were used to analyze the data. The findings showed that the use of solid fuels for cooking was associated with a higher risk of hypertension, particularly among residents in north China, individuals aged 45 to 65 years, urban residents, and nonsmokers. However, no significant association was found between solid fuel use for heating and hypertension, except in South China. The study highlights the health hazards of solid fuel for cooking and heating and emphasizes the importance of clean energy in reducing the risk of hypertension.
