Pdf Summary
A cross-sectional study conducted in Japan aimed to assess the association between the type of chronic disease and workplace accommodations received by workers. The study analyzed a self-reported questionnaire administered online to 6,775 full-time workers who reported needing work accommodations. The results showed that workplace accommodations were more likely to be provided for workers with cancer, mental illness, and benign gynecological disorders compared to workers with no disease under treatment. On the other hand, workers with low back pain and skin diseases were less likely to receive workplace accommodations. The findings suggest that the provision of workplace accommodations depends on the type of chronic disease. Chronic diseases that frequently receive workplace accommodations may be those for which support is encouraged by law. However, workers with chronic diseases that do not receive adequate workplace accommodations need further support. The study highlights the importance of supporting workers with chronic diseases and ensuring that they receive appropriate workplace accommodations to maintain their work-health balance and well-being in the workplace.
