Pdf Summary
This study examined labor market marginalization (LMM) trajectories and the association between family-related life events and LMM trajectories among Swedish twins. The study found that individuals who stayed married or changed from single without children to married with children had a decreased risk of LMM, while individuals who changed from married to being single had a higher risk of LMM. Divorce was found to be a risk factor for LMM. The study highlights the importance of family-related life events, such as marriage and having children, in reducing the risk of LMM, while divorce increases the risk. The findings suggest that family stability and positive events contribute to better labor market outcomes, while negative events, such as divorce, can lead to marginalization. The study also emphasizes the role of familial factors in these associations, indicating that shared genetic and environmental factors may play a role. Overall, the study adds to the understanding of the relationship between family-related life events and labor market marginalization, providing insight into factors that can influence an individual's trajectory in the labor market.
