This study examined the association between low adaptation to management philosophy and refraining from seeking medical care (RSMC) among Japanese employees in a company with a management philosophy of "pursuing employees' well-being." The study surveyed 2,791 employees and measured adaptation to management philosophy at baseline and RSMC at a 1-year follow-up. The results showed that low adaptation to management philosophy was significantly associated with RSMC. This suggests that employees who do not adapt to the company's management philosophy are less likely to seek medical care when they perceive health issues. The study also found that disagreement with behavioral involvement, as measured by one of the adapted items, was significantly associated with a higher risk of RSMC. This suggests that even if employees understand and empathize with the management philosophy, their behavior may not necessarily align with seeking medical care. The study highlights the importance of adapting to management philosophy in promoting employees' actions to seek medical care and suggests that companies need to ensure employees' understanding and incorporate the philosophy into their actions and decisions to encourage seeking medical care when needed. The findings have implications for companies with similar management philosophies and can help identify employees who may need encouragement to seek medical care. However, the study has some limitations, including the use of data obtained approximately 10 years ago and the specific focus on one company, which limits the generalizability of the findings.
