Pdf Summary
This study examined the relationship between physical activity (PA), sedentary behavior, and work engagement using self-reported and accelerometer-measured data. The results showed that high self-reported leisure-time physical activity and sports participation were associated with higher work engagement, while high self-reported sitting time was associated with lower work engagement. Accelerometer-measured light physical activity and steps were related to higher work engagement and vigor. Accelerometer-measured sedentary behavior was linked to lower work engagement. The study highlighted the importance of promoting PA and reducing sedentary behavior in the workplace to improve well-being and job performance. Future research should explore the underlying mechanisms involved in this relationship.
