Upon completion of this educational activity, learners should be able to:

  • Explain the importance of implementing a workplace intervention to regularly interrupt sedentary time with short bouts of activity, rather than one that simply focuses on reducing total sitting time.
  • Explain the challenges of identifying intentional interruptions to sedentary time using both objective accelerometer techniques and self-report methods.
  • Explain participant experiences of using the tools contained within the intervention, the challenges they faced, and whether or not interrupting sedentary time every 30 min is realistic within the real-world.
This activity is designed for physicians and other healthcare professionals who specialize in or have an interest in OEM. Advanced practitioners such as industrial hygienists, safety professionals and environmental health specialists will receive value from participating in the activity.
