Complementary Pathway for Achieving Board Certification in OEM (Members)
Description

This presentation will discuss the complementary pathway toward achieving board certification in Occupational and Environmental. We will have presentations from members of both the American Board of Preventive Medicine as well as the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) about the complementary pathway. We will also have the perspective of a program director who actively takes complementary pathway residents. Relevant audience includes anyone considering obtaining board certification via this route and program directors who are interested in promoting this route.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to:
  • Discuss how to apply for the complementary pathway 

  • Describe how to structure a residency to be able to accommodate a complementary pathway residency. 

  • Recognize the difference between the Complementary Pathway and the ACGME Residency understand the role of other learners
