Video Summary
The webinar introduced the Healthy Work Campaign and its role in applying Total Worker Health principles to reduce psychosocial hazards and improve workplace mental health. Dr. Marnie Dobson and Dr. Peran Faghri explained that harmful work stress is often overlooked in the U.S., despite its links to burnout, depression, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, poor productivity, and high economic costs. They outlined five pillars of healthy work: safe physical conditions, reduced psychosocial stressors, respectful organizational culture, healthy work organization, and fair rewards and benefits.

A major focus was the Healthy Work Survey, a free, anonymous, bilingual tool organizations can use to assess work stressors such as workload, job control, supervisor support, bullying, work-life conflict, and safety climate. The survey generates individual and organizational reports to help identify risks and guide action.

Dr. Faghri emphasized that stress should be addressed at the system level, not just through individual wellness programs. She described participatory, systems-thinking approaches that involve employees and leadership in identifying root causes and redesigning work. The presenters stressed leadership support, evidence-based assessment, customization, and ongoing evaluation. They concluded that healthy work is essential not only for worker well-being but also for organizational performance.
